Top Ice Cream Spots in NYC | Eating With Jenn

Jenn Hanft sharing top ice cream spots in NYC

I’m the type of person who loves eating ice cream, especially in the cold (cause it doesn’t turn into soup in .5 seconds), so I decided to share some of the top ice cream spots in Manhattan, NYC that I’ve tried and loved.

In case you were wondering, the photo above was shot in Palm Springs and I also featured it in my Top Instagram Worthy Spots in Palm Springs post (yeah, you’re not crazy). It was taken in the Ice Cream & Shoppe and I had Cappuccino Crunch and Coachella Valley Date (yum!). Now to share with you locally, here are some totally awesome, and tasty, spots in NYC for you to enjoy!

Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream

The ice cream is so smooth and delicious. They offer unique flavors and the best part? If you’re looking for vegan ice cream, this is your go-to! They’re vegan ice cream is so bomb to the point where if you blind folded me and gave me a taste test, I probably can’t even taste the difference!

Popbar has amazing gelato and sorbet pops, but their latest creation (as of last year) is the Popwich! Taking a modern twist on the classic ice cream sandwich through their DIY process of customizing your own pop. Definitely need to try this place out!

Soft Swerve

Soft Swerve ice cream

Most notably known for the ube soft serve, Soft Swerve is one of the best soft serve spots you can find hands down! They usually have 3 standalone flavors and some swirl options. My favorite is the black sesame, with a close second at matcha.

Wowfulls ice cream and hong kong waffle pancakes

This Hong Kong styled dessert has spread wildly: HK waffle pancakes and ice cream. Wowfulls does an amazing job of providing crispy waffles and just the right about of ice cream to match. I first discovered them at Smorgasburg and then shortly after met the owner. Super sweet and down to earth. Be sure to show them some love! They recently opened a permanent location.

Milk and Cream Cereal Bar

This spot is the cutest becomes it takes a whole new spin on cereal by turning it into soft serve! You can definitely find unique flavors here by creating your own beloved cereal into a new frosty treat or going for their pre-made recipes of perfection. Not many do this, especially in Manhattan. Another classic favorite is Kith Treats in Brooklyn, which is the OG on the cereal + ice cream idea.

Cafe Zaiya

If you’re looking for simple soft serve ice cream of matcha or black sesame, you’ve come to the right place! This hidden gem serves a whole lotta ice cream with delicious flavor. This is one of my other favorite soft serve spots just because of the high quantity and top quality taste.

Hope you enjoy this quick round up of NYC ice cream spots!

  1. I love ice cream! I’ve only been to NYC twice and I haven’t tried any ice cream there. These places look amazing! Next time I go I’ll have to hit one up.

  2. Soft Swerve is speaking my language! I’m a soft-serve ice cream fanatic haha! I gotta visit NY so you can take me to all these spots 😉

  3. Yay! I love ice cream too, though I am cutting dairy out of my diet for a few months so this post has me craving it all the more! I feel like NYC has so many better ice cream options than in DC!

  4. I’m such an ice cream fanatic and nyc has so many places, some of my favorites are listed here too! Can’t wait to wear cute dresses and go crazy on ice cream!

  5. Some of my favorites include the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory and the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. Both these ice cream spots are incredible in different ways. Located in Dumbo, the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory has delicious ice cream with traditional flavors varying from chocolate sundaes to summer themed fruit flavored treats such as strawberry.
