HairThrone Obsessed

Change is inevitable. I’ve been so set on having long hair. My mission was to get my hair to my waist again. But at the same time, I’ve been dying to chop it all off – but I never really had the guts. The last time I got my hair cut relatively short, I was full of regret and devastation.

So after making my appointment with Bianca (@hairthrone) from @bianchisalon about 2 months in advance (book now, she’s amazing!) I was only thinking about going lighter. As time went on, I really thought about cutting it off and decided that I was finally ready. Ready to the point where I’ve studied a bunch of cuts and even photoshopped myself to get a general idea.

The day finally came and as I sat in the chair, I voiced how I wanted to chop my hair off. Basically shocking everyone – Bianca, Chi, and a client. It’s really funny because for that entire week, people have been complimenting my hair and its length, between comments like “Hair goals”, “Your hair is so long!”, or “Can I borrow/have some of your hair?”. I would laugh to myself. Little do you all know, I’m gonna chop it off. I didn’t even really tell many people my plans – for the ultimate surprise. Only a handful of friends knew about my desire to some day cut off my hair.

So, what was the reasoning behind the chop?

I’ve been dying and bleaching my hair for so long. Bianca actually helped me along my hair journey from balayage to baby lights, blonde to grey to purple, and now here we are. I’m actually super surprised that my hair has maintained the integrity that it did (with the help of many products, hair masks, and of course, Olaplex). It was time to chop that deadweight off. Plus, just in time for the Summer – along with the new lob trend going on, I just felt like it was the right thing to do. Moreover, change was a big part of it. I’ve learned to accept and embrace change, which is why I decided to seek it this go-around. Anyway, hair grows back after all!

This is the beginning of my new hair journey. I couldn’t be happier with the result: a lob with high-contrast balayage. The next steps (I’m thinking) are going lighter and maybe shorter! I have zero regrets and I don’t even miss my length! I actually prepared myself for a shorter cut, but I’m so, SO happy!

Again, I couldn’t have trusted anyone else with my hair. Bianca is such a sweet, caring person and I absolutely love her work. I’ve been with her for about 2 years and she’ll always be my hair bae. She’s come so far too, from branching off and doing her own thing and then opening her own salon with Chi. If you haven’t checked her out, you have to. Seriously, she’s the best.

Ughh I need to see your chopped hair in the flesh. Until then it won’t be real to me. The pics look great, but I need to see it to embrace the change.
