Skin is an investment, so skincare is a must.
I thought it was about time I share my current everyday skincare routine including my favorite go-to essentials. While it’s not the Korean 10-step skincare routine, it’s certainly close. I devised my own skincare regime that works for me and although it may seem like a lot of products, my skin has never been better.
My Skincare Routine
Step 1: Cleansing Cloth
The very first step in my skincare routine, especially after an extremely long day of venturing into the world, is I take a cleansing cloth and wipe the surface of my face. To me, it doesn’t matter if I have makeup on or not because even if you have a “clean” face, there is still dirt and grime that you need to clear out. My current fave is Ole Henriksen’s Stay Balanced Grease Relief Cleansing Cloths. Not only do they get off majority of the dirt, they feel amazing against my skin and I feel so rejuvenated after using it! Each cloth has an exfoliating side that leave skin smooth and hydrated (and it’s not incredibly rough where you’re left looking red and beat up).
Step 2: Cleanse
I admit it, I’m a double cleansing gal. Skincare is a big deal, so I want to make sure that my face is actually clean and sorry Ole Henriksen, but those wipes alone do not do my face justice. So depending on if I wear makeup or not, I incorporate a cleansing oil because not only does it help remove the leftover bits that the cloth didn’t get, it also keeps my face nice and hydrated. Eve by Eve’s Lavender Cleansing Oil is amazing and it smells heavenly! Once I’ve washed off the cleansing oil, I slap on some cleanser to make sure I really get everything off and my face is squeaky clean. To some, this may be overkill, but I want to ensure everything is off 100% haha. Eve by Eve’s Brightening Creamy Cleanser certainly finishes up the job and ensures my face is completely clear of everything. It also helps that it smells amaaaazing!!!
Step 3: Tone
Haha, isn’t it ironic that because I double cleanse, I also double tone? Okay now this may sound like complete overkill, but trust me it’s not! I start off with Dr. Hauschka’s Facial Toner which is actually a spray. I mist it over my face and gently pat it in with my fingertips. Because this toner is more surface than deep toning, I go in with Fresh’s Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner on a cotton pad. I absolutely love Fresh’s rose toners. Rose water or anything rose in general does wonders for the skin. Plus, the formula of these toners are refreshing, super hydrating, and have multiple skincare properties like anti-aging! I’ve never come across a toner that was this big on sustaining moisture so it’s a must have. Plus, isn’t the packaging to die for!?
Step 4: Essence
If you haven’t already heard about SK-II, it’s this amazing company that swears on Pitera. The Facial Treatment Essence is one of its best sellers and also a huge blogger holy grail. The Pitera is full of minerals and nutrients for your skin that has multiple properties such as anti-aging, brightening, smoothening, and so forth. This really keeps my skin hydrated and at its best! It’s rather pricey, but your skin is an investment so it’s totally worth it. I do have to say that the smell isn’t too keen, but it’s so easy to use and is literally like the fountain of youth in a bottle. I wrote a post (ages ago) that goes into further detail and review of SK-II’s essence. Read more here: All About SK-II.
Step 5: Moisturizer
Hydrated skin is happy skin. A lot of the time we don’t take too much care in moisturizing our skin (I’m guilty of that with body lotion) but it’s something that’s a must. Just like we need water to keep hydrated, our skin needs hydration too (plus key fact: more water equals better skin). After searching for a long time, I finally found a moisturizer that really retained moisture especially in the winter when my face needs it most. First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream is ridiculously hydrating and I’ve found that nothing else compares.
Now that I’ve shared my skincare secrets, will you share yours?
I’m always open to trying new products and (hopefully) finding new favorites 🙂
